  • When did you realize you wanted to to this for a living?

I did not know I did not want to be a fashion designer until I knew I did not want to be anything else. I have been educated with a very artistic universe surrounding me and I wanted to make people feel the power of creativity that gives clothing as I feel it. I don’t know, I just took I guess and I am doing great.

  • ¿When working on a new project, what has to be the ambience?

Not surrounded by cameras… Actually, I am a very chaotic person and I don’t mind noise, what I do care about is light. If there is not enough light, no good work will be going on. This is because I need to focus on every little detail, and I can’t if the lighting is not working properly or if the light is rather orange than white.

  • What kind of advice would you give to the people that want to do this for a career?

I would tell them to draw. Whatever. To draw and to read is really important to get the pulse and the vibes for being a fashion designer. In the end you need to be like a sponge and absorb everything that revolves around you. Only in that case you will get to know what you really want to do.

  • Which designers have inspired you the most?

Yves Saint Laurent has been the one who has most inspired me because of his concept of the woman as a dominant, powerful and sexy character. I think we have enough delicate flowers and we need more 4x4 females that can afford themselves a living to be free and independent.

  • What is your biggest dream?

Becoming a fashion designer has been the challenge and the dream I’ve been pursuing for years now. Dressing people and being part of their identity and the communication of that identity towards other people is a wonderful thing to do for a living. If I could do that, I would be grateful.

  • Does the fabric you used in the dress have a meaning?

Before shooting the documentary, María asked me what colour was the fabric going to be and I said red because it describes a lot her personality and it suits her completely. Then she asked me about my favourite colour and I though: “Well, the colour of my eyes, blue”, so I though it would be a fantastic idea for the fabric to be a bright blue since it is not the colour of my eyes, but bright colour looks really well on Maria.

  • What time does it take to make a dress as the one you did and how did you face doing it in only one day?

For that dress, the usual time I take is about one week with the help of Luis. I was really stressed about it but it needs to be done. Even though the concept changed, I focused on sticking more or less to what I already designed and this turned out.
